Before the world existed, there was only Nun — the dark, infinite ocean of chaos. From these waters, Atum willed himself into being, standing on the first mound of earth. He spoke the names of Shu and Tefnut, creating air and moisture. From them came Geb the earth and Nut the sky — and the world took shape.
