Chapter 8: The Binding of Fenrir

The monstrous wolf Fenrir, son of Loki, grows larger each day. The gods try twice to bind him with heavy chains — he snaps them both. The dwarves forge Gleipnir, a ribbon made from impossible things. Only the god Tyr is brave enough to place his hand in Fenrir's mouth as a pledge of good faith. When Fenrir cannot break free, he bites off Tyr's hand.
